Joy, Hope and Harmony Project Summary.

Project Delivery Period: 25 January 2026 – 29 March 2026 Delivered by: Tamworth Gospel Choir Supported by: Tamworth Borough Council via We are Tamworth and Space hive Crowd Funding.

1. Project Overview
The Joy, Hope and Harmony project was a community initiative designed to combine the uplifting power of gospel singing with creative and wellbeing‑focused activities. Centred on the universal themes of joy, hope and harmony, the project aimed to ignite creativity, strengthen community cohesion, and provide accessible opportunities for local residents to connect and participate in positive shared experiences.
Spacehive funding enabled the delivery of a varied programme of activities, ensuring they remained free, inclusive and welcoming to the wider community.
2. Activities Delivered
Across the project period, three core activities were delivered over a total of 16 sessions:
Gospel Singing Masterclass
- 8 sessions delivered at Tamworth SDA Church
- Facilitated by Rose Morgan (Voiceology Academy) and Bethany Baker trained musician.
- Sessions ran from 25 January to 25 March 2026
- Focused on vocal development, confidence building and group harmony
Nature Nurtured Learning and Wellness Classes



- 5 sessions facilitated by Deidrea Allen
- Delivered fortnightly from 28 January 2026
- Average attendance: 7 participants per session
- Provided nature‑based wellbeing activities to support mental and emotional health
Natural Tie and Dye Workshops

- 3 sessions facilitated by Debbie Murphy (Missfits Creations)
- Participants learned fabric preparation, natural dyeing techniques and creative scarf design
- Encouraged artistic expression and hands‑on learning
3. Use of Spacehive Funding
Spacehive funding was essential in enabling the successful delivery of the project. Funding covered:
- Venue hire
- Facilitator fees
- Materials and equipment
- Refreshments and food for the final concert
- Promotion and marketing
- Development of the gospel community choir website
This support ensured that all activities were accessible, high‑quality and welcoming to residents across Tamworth.
4. Participation and Community Reach
The project engaged a total of 32 participants, with several individuals attending multiple activities across the programme.
Participants represented a diverse cross‑section of the community, including:
- Local residents and families
- Members from different communities
- Existing community gospel choir members
- Individuals from across Tamworth and Birmingham
This diversity contributed to a rich, inclusive environment where people could connect, learn and create together.
5. Project Outcomes and Impact
The Joy, Hope and Harmony project delivered meaningful benefits for participants and the wider community. The project:
- Brought together people from different backgrounds, fostering unity and understanding
- Raised the profile of the Tamworth Gospel Choir and celebrated its contribution to local culture
- Created opportunities for shared learning, creative expression and personal growth
- Strengthened community relationships and encouraged ongoing engagement in local activities
- Provided positive, welcoming and uplifting experiences that supported wellbeing and community spirit
- Many of the participants said they felt that each session was welcoming, the atmosphere supportive and they enjoyed meeting new people.
- Choir members in their feedback said the coaches were brilliant, encouraging, engaging and welcoming. They felt the choir sessions improved their wellbeing and they felt their musical confidence had increased.
- What did we learn?
Through delivering this project and the celebratory concert at the end of the project, we learned that there is a strong interest in cultural events and celebration in Tamworth.
Community projects help bring people together and create a positive atmosphere.
We would like to build on this project with future events and partnership.
